Permaculture & Intentional Community
Life was never meant to be lived in isolation.
In concrete jungles and polluted air, disconnected from the earth, and each other...
We knew there had to be another way. We felt called to merge the old ways, without ignoring the new. We didn't realize we would be inventing it as we go, but here we are. 10 years and thousands of lessons create what you see today.
A community of families, of artists, of energetic souls, and earth devotees. Yearning for village life, exploring what it means to cultivate a balanced community rooted in land stewardship, creativity, shared work and celebration.
A place where we can eat nutricious food that we grow, and drink clean, delicious springwater. Where wisdom is shared, our children play between homes, gardens bloom in communal song.
Where neighbors become family, sharing meals, and enriching each other's lives. A community that thrives though shared commerce opportunities, and life unfolds in sacred rhythm with the land.
Hawk & Hawthorne is not a finished blueprint.
It is an ongoing experiment, shifting and changings as we are, as these times are.
With the intention and pure hearts, we keep going, and growing.
And the village is still forming.
Our Vision
✺ Gardens that feed both people, and soil
✺ Music and art, gathering and connection, woven into weekly life
✺ Honoring the cycles, the seasons, the moon, the internal thrum, the universal spanda, or expansion and contraction, of divine intelligence
✺ Shared values of respect, support, and reciprocity to the whole
✺ Land education and stewardship, in balance with joy, connection and celebration
✺ Safe and enriching space for our children to grow up surrounded by nature and community
Calling In Community
We are inviting people who feel resonance with this path to connect with us.
People who sense that life can be lived more collaboratively, more creatively, and more connected to land.
You might be:
✺ growers and permaculture practitioners
✺ artists, musicians, and storytellers
✺ builders and craftspeople
✺ families seeking a village environment
✺ educators and healers
✺ land stewards and caretakers
✺ thoughtful dreamers who want to help shape something meaningful
Some people may live directly on the land.
Others may live nearby in the surrounding valley.
Some may participate through seasonal gatherings, collaborative projects, or creative residencies.
What matters most is shared rhythm and shared care.

Community Values
These are some of the principles guiding the evolution of H&H
Stewardship of the Land
Creativity as Culture
Honoring the Cycles and the Seasons
Slow Growth
Intergenerational & Multicultural
We see ourselves as caretakers of the landscape, working with natural systems to restore soil, water, and biodiversity for generations to come.
Music, art, storytelling, and celebration are not luxuries. They are essential expressions of a living culture. We host shows, workshops, speakers and retreats - to help enrich our community, and each other.
There is a time for growth, and a time for rest. While our growing season is full of community, activities, occasional shows and weddings - we honor the restful cycle of winter, of resting, being equally important for our sustainability and peace.
We are not rushing toward a predetermined outcome. The village grows through relationships, trust, communication, and thoughtful stewardship.
Healthy villages include people of all ages and backgrounds, cultures and tribes. Children, elders, and everyone in between, all bring wisdom and vitality welcome in our community to share and thrive.

Ways to Participate

If This Speaks to You
Communities are not built through ideas alone.
They grow through relationships.
If something in this vision resonates with you -- whether as a neighbor, collaborator, artist, grower, or future steward of the land -- we welcome the conversation.
The village begins by finding one another.
